In The Beginning

On July 28, 2008, I purchase a new home in South Hadley, Mass. The house was really a fixer upper. Let me give you a brief description of how the house is laid out. The house is a multi-family house with two apartments. I live in the first floor apartment and plan on renting out the second floor. The first floor apartment has six rooms with three bedrooms, where as the second floor apartment has seven rooms with three bedrooms. Initially when I saw the house I really liked the lay out of the first floor. To be honest, I wanted another house but that deal fell apart.

Well back to my new home sweet home... The house is located on a quiet street with a cemetary for a view. Looking at the house from the outside, you know instantly it needs work. The trim around the windows are missing. Holes can be seen in the wood trim which shows me the outside wild life likes to enter and stay warm. The bat poop on the siding shows evidence of night rulers are my new tenents. Although they stay for free....

Let described the first floor.

Here is a quick layout sketch of my first floor apartment

Living room: wood panelling with a horrid brown rug... Hardwood floor hidding underneath. Ceiling fan with an inch of dust on each blade. A rectangle hole in the ceiling.. Not sure to make of it...

Master Bedroom: Pink rug with wall paper on all the walls. There is a door to the front porch.

Front Porch: this is interesting, there are 3 windows.. However only 2 actually can see the outside. So it looks like someone placed siding on the outside of the window and never removed the window...

Bedroom 2, This will be my office. Anyway, the room is painted with a skin color paint with hardwood floors. The floors need serious work...

Bedroom 3, This will be my workout room. The room is painted with a dark blue. The rug matches it... There are no hardwood floors in here... shame..

The bathroom, standard... nothing exciting... Yellow tub with yellow toilet.. the walls are actually painted yellow... Ok needs work... The ceiling has water damage...

The kitchen, suprisingly it has stainless steel fridge and stove with a matching microwave... The counter tops are green.. The floors are also green... The cabinets drawers need a lot of work.. Damaged...

Through the kitchen is access to the scary basement... Pretty dark down there... almost all of the light switches don't work...
